The magic of Harry Potter

The baby-faced, red-headed, bespectacled Swiss ski jumper Simon Ammann flew through the air to win on the 120m hill, complete a golden double and inevitably find himself dubbed 'Harry Potter' by the local media.

Norway's Kjetil Andre Aamodt became the most decorated skier in Olympic history, the 30-yearold all-rounder's gold in the combined - downhill and slalom - event being his sixth medal in all, one better than the great Italian Alberto Tomba and Switzerland's Vreni Schneider.

Behind Aamodt, Scotland's Ross Green finished 15th to become only the second Briton so far to finish in the top half of the field in any event. The other was Mark Hatton in Monday's luge.

Nottingham short track speed skater Joanna Williams failed to get through her 1,500m heat.

In the curling, Britain's men beat Germany 7-6.
