Andy Murray learns from Lu

The last time Andy Murray played second-round opponent Yen-Hsun Lu, three months ago in Indian Wells, he experienced two mini earthquakes.

On that occasion, Murray failed to be rumbled; unlike the pair’s previous encounter in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics, where Lu stunned the British No1 in straight sets.

As a result, the No2 seed admitted after his comfortable first-round win over Benjamin Becker he would be treading with caution when he meets the world No126 on court tomorrow.

“I know quite a lot about him,” Murray said. “I lost to him in Beijing, which was a very tough loss for me. I learned a lot from that. I’ve played him once more since then, in Indian Wells. I saw a little bit of the end of his match [in which he beat Britain’s James Ward] and he’s made the quarter-finals before and beaten Andy Roddick. So I need to be ready.”

While playing on Centre Court, Murray admitted to keeping at least half an eye on Rafael Nadal’s progress on No1 Court on the scoreboard between games but insisted the exit of the French Open champion, previously a potential semi-final opponent for Murray, was of little consequence.

“It’s pretty irrelevant right now,” added Murray.
