Slaven Bilic has confirmed that West Ham are “very close” to signing Andre Ayew in a £20m deal from Swansea.

As Standard Sport revealed on Friday the Hammers have made a breakthrough in their bid to bring in the Ghanaian international, with the arrival of Spanish international striker Fernando Llorente in south Wales opening the door for Ayew to depart.

Bilic confirmed in his press conference that both Ayew and Olympiakos left-back Arthur Masuaku are set to join West Ham before they begin their Premier League season next Monday away to Chelsea.

"We are quite close to getting two new players," said Bilic after West Ham's 3-2 friendly defeat by Juventus.

"I hoped it would be yesterday and they would play a part today but the paperwork was not done. It's only a matter of paperwork and then we will have two new players at West Ham."

West Ham remain in the market for several new signings, with Bilic confirming earlier in the week that he was hoping to bring in as many as five new players before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

A high-quality striker remains on the Hammers wishlist, with Mario Gomez and Carlos Bacca the leading contenders.

Argentine youth international Jonathan Calleri is expected to complete his move after he returns from the Olympics football tournament.
