Tottenham are set to complete a £500,000 deal for Wigan teenager Alfie Devine this week.

The 15-year-old passed a medical and agreed terms with Spurs over the weekend, and he will join their academy from next season.

Devine was released by Liverpool aged 11 but has developed rapidly since joining Wigan and has already represented the Latics' U-23 side and trained with the first team this season.

The London club have been tracking the youngster, who made a two-minute cameo in Wigan's FA Youth Cup win over Spurs in January, for the past 12 months and beat off competition from the likes of Leeds United and Celtic for his signature.

Wigan have been forced into a quick sale after entering administration earlier this month and they go into the final day of the Championship season with a 12-point deduction hanging over them and their safety from relegation still not assured.
