Rod Stewart 'brings rock star' to Scottish Cup draw with cheeky antics

Sir Rod Stewart lit up Sunday's Scottish Cup fifth-round draw as he drew numbers from the bowl in theatrical style.

The 72-year-old was joined by former Celtic defender Alan Stubbs as the ties for the next round of the competition were determined.

The draw followed Celtic's 3-0 victory over Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill Stadium; Scott Sinclair's strike was the stand out goal as the Hoops progressed, but Stewart stole the limelight after the full-time whistle.

Stewart, himself a big Celtic fan, is better know for renditions of his 1970s hits 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy' and 'Maggie May', but it was this performance which got people talking on Sunday.

The singer songwriter made dramatic swoops for the bowl as he fished out the numbered balls.

"Getting down to the big boys now," said Stewart before drawing Celtic from the hat and celebrating a favourable home fixture for Brendan Rodgers' side.

Stubbs, who himself added to a comical draw by mixing up numbers six and nine, told talkSPORT: “I thought he was great entertainment. He brought a bit of rock star to the draw.

“He’s a personality, anyone watching that yesterday is thinking ‘wow how funny is that?’ because it is.

“It can all be a bit ‘number six’ so there is nothing wrong with that at all.”
