New York City 'retirement home': Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo mocked by rival MLS fans

The rivalry in the Big Apple between MLS franchises New York Red Bulls and New York City FC is in its' infancy, but fans haven't been shy about nailing their colours to the mast.

The Red Bulls ran out 2-0 winners in Sunday night's derby, courtesy of goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips and Felipe Martins, and their supporters couldn't resist having a sly dig at City's star players.

Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo both have stellar reputations in Europe after long and illustrious careers but were belittled with a banner that suggested the midfielders were anything but in their prime..

The huge sign was emblazoned with the caption 'City Retirement Home' and featured the Chelsea and Juventus legends propped up with walking sticks. Cheeky.

Given that Lampard and Pirlo are 37 and 36 respectively they certainly aren't spring chickens, but you can't buy experience.
