Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was left to bemoan the Reds’ latest capitulation, admitting: “It’s not us out there”.

The Premier League champions suffered a third-straight defeat as they were beaten by Leicester on Saturday, conceding three times in seven second-half minutes as the Foxes came from behind to win.

The manner of the defeat was as concerning as the result itself, with Alisson adding to his high-profile blunders against Manchester City last weekend with another glaring error to allow Jamie Vardy to give the home side the lead after James Maddison had equalised. The Liverpool backline were all at sea as Harvey Barnes strolled in to add a third soon after, too.

The loss was Liverpool’s fifth in eight league games and they could finish the weekend as low as seventh in the table should other results go against them over the next few days.

“[It’s] a huge blow, you can say that,” Robertson told BT Sport. “For large parts of the game we were dominant and then that’s not us out there.

“One setback - we’ve been so good at bouncing back and staying in the game - but we were opened up and we played into their hands. We were 2-1 down with 15 minutes to go but we opened completely up. When that happens against a really good Leicester team you will get punished.

“We played with a lot of confidence for large parts of the game - played the ball really well. Then I don’t know what happened in the last 10-15 minutes. It can’t happen in a game like this. We really need to look at that. Every game is massive for us now. We need to put an end to it.”
