Ashley Cole looked his 37 years as LA Galaxy came from behind to draw 2-2 with rivals LAFC in the derby dubbed 'El Trafico'.

With Galaxy trailing 2-0 the Banc of California Stadium to goals from former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela and Lee Nguyen, captain Cole was replaced by Chris Pontius – helping to spark a dramatic comeback for the visitors.

Romain Alessandrini halved the deficit with a smart finish with eight minutes remaining and a horrendous back pass from debutant Andre Horta allowed Ola Kamara to skip around the goalkeeper and equalise four minutes later.

LAFC held on, and even hit the post in the dying moments, for a point that really should have been three. They remain in second place in the Western Conference, while the Galaxy, unbeaten in their last eight, sit fourth.

It is the second time LAFC, who are playing their maiden season in MLS, have squandered a commanding lead against their rivals, having lost 4-3 earlier in the season thanks to two goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

After the game, former Chelsea and Arsenal defender Cole chatted to Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne, who had watched the game along with Juan Mata of Manchester United.
