Asmir Begovic has described working with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea as a "privilege" and insisted he has no regrets about leaving Stoke City for Stamford Bridge this summer.

Mourinho has found himself under intense pressure to lift the champions out of their current woes after overseeing seven losses in the Premier League already this season, which has left Chelsea sitting in 16th place in the standings.

Chelsea's disastrous start to the campaign has resulted in various stories of unrest at the club including one claiming Cesc Fabregas has been the leader of a "mini-revolt" and another claiming a first-team member would "rather lose than win" for Mourinho.

But Begovic, who has played regularly for the Blues in the absence of the injured Thibaut Courtois this term, has insisted working under Mourinho has been nothing short of a "privilege".

Speaking ahead of his nation, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Euro 2016 play-off tie with the Republic of Ireland on Friday, Begovic said: "I think it is unnecessary to talk about Jose's qualities.

"This is one of the leading experts in their work and it really is a privilege to work with him.

"He and all of us are doing everything to improve our game. When it comes to the Premier League, it is certain that we can do better.

"In some games we have not had any luck and in some we have not reflected our real quality. On the other hand, in the Champions League we are solid."

Begovic sealed his move from Stoke to Chelsea in July following five years at the Britannia Stadium, but endured an unhappy return to his former side last weekend when the Potters beat the Blues 1-0.

Despite Chelsea now languishing just three points above the relegation zone, Begovic admits he harbours no regrets about leaving Stoke for Mourinho's side.

"The fact that we are now in a worse league position than we expected does not affect my mood when it comes to my decision about signing for Chelsea," he said.

"I still believe that I made the right choice and it's great a step ahead of me in my career, because Chelsea is a top club.

"My time spent at Stoke was really great and I enjoyed it there, but Chelsea is a club on another level in terms of organisation, the environment and the global popularity.

"The pressure is higher but it is a top club and it's great to be a part of it."
