Beast Feast Mode On: Akinfenwa and Co are off to Spain
Sam Long20 July 2015

AFC Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has posted a photograph on his official Instagram account alongside his Dons team mates as the League Two outfit prepare to jet off on their pre-season tour.

Beast Mode was in full effect for the 33-year-old, who signed a one year contract extension with the London club earlier this summer after snubbing lucrative offers from elsewhere.

The powerful front man is famously the strongest player on the popular FIFA video game and is set to be an integral figure for Wimbledon as the club plot a push for promotion to the third tier during the forthcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, Neil Ardley's side, who recorded a respectable 1-1 draw against Championship side Millwall in a pre-season friendly at Kingsmeadow last Saturday, departed for La Manga, Spain earlier today as they prepare for the new season.

The week-long trip will culminate with a friendly against Granada CF but the competitive action kicks off for the Dons with a clash against Plymouth Argyle on 8 August.

Wimbledon's previous campaign ran out of steam after top scorer Matt Tubbs signed for Portsmouth in January and Ardley has made the purchase of a man that can play up top with Akinfenwa one of his priorities this summer.

The trio of Andy Barcham, Tom Elliott and Lyle Taylor, who broke bread with the big man earlier today, have been brought in to complement Akinfenwa's sizeable presence.
