David Moyes has 'no idea' if Chelsea want to sign West Ham's Andy Carroll

David Moyes says he has "no idea" if Premier League champions Chelsea are chasing a deal for West Ham striker Andy Carroll.

The No.9, who scored a match-winning brace against West Brom on Tuesday before a late cameo in the London derby with Tottenham on Thursday, is reportedly a January target for the Blues.

Conte is reportedly keen to bring the former Liverpool striker to Stamford Bridge on a loan deal as cover for striker Alvaro Morata, with an approach to West Ham already made.

However, when these claims were put to him, Moyes insisted he knew nothing of the approach.

“[I have] no idea,” Moyes said. “So I can’t tell you one way or the other.”

While Moyes was coy on Carroll’s links with Chelsea, the Scotsman knows exactly what he wants from the winter window as he scouts players who will bring an instant impact to London Stadium.

“We have to try to strengthen the squad,” the former Everton manager wrote in his Standard Sport column.

“Ideally, I always look to the long term but such is our position this season that we have to look short term.

“We need players to come and help us now.”
