A superb solo goal from Jeffrey Schlupp sealed an impressive 1-0 victory for 10-man Crystal Palace against Bournemouth at Selhurst Park.
Roy Hodgson made just one change to his lineup, bringing in Mamadou Sakho to replace the injured Scott Dann with defensive numbers short.
And Palace began on the front foot, at least in terms of possession, with Wilfried Zaha proving to be a thorn in the side for Adam Smith.
But all of the Eagles' good work early on was undone when Sakho made a horrendous error of judgement.
The French defender made a genuine attempt to win the ball off Adam Smith; the only problem is, he did it about three feet off the ground and caught the Bournemouth full-back high on the shin. Referee Anthony Taylor took his time before brandishing the red card and VAR, after a brief check, swiftly agreed with the official.
With Palace a man down and lacking defensive options, Cheikhou Kouyate was forced to deputise as a centre-back. Things then got even worse for Hodgson when Patrick van Aanholt was forced off with a hamstring problem.
Bournemouth rarely troubled the Palace goal, other than a tame effort from Philip Billing which went straight at Vicente Guaita as the teams headed into half time locked in a stalemate.
Hodgson opted to bring on James McCarthy for Andros Townsend to put an extra man in midfield and it appeared to work, with the visitors struggling to break down the sturdy Palace defence.
Eddie Howe's side appeared to be content to play it about patiently but ultimately paid the price for their lack of attacking movement with just a quarter of an hour left.
Schlupp burst through the middle with blistering pace and with a powerful low drive beat Ramsdale from 20 yards out to send the Palace faithful into raptures.

The away side did provide a response and nearly drew level with just two minutes to go but Vicente Guaita made a fine stop to deny Jefferson Lerma as Palace held on to clinch three vital points.
