Wolves are in pole position to sign Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium this summer in search of more first-team football.

Wolves have now moved to the front of the queue for Maitland-Niles and are the favourites to sign.

Personal terms with the midfielder, who can play at right-back too, will not be an issue as he is ready to move to Molineux.

Maitland-Niles is understood to be excited by the prospect of working under Nuno Espirito Santo and the increased game time on offer.

Wolves need to agree a fee with Arsenal and it is thought that will be in the region of an initial £20million, plus add-ons.

As reported by Standard Sport, Brighton were the first to show an interest in Maitland-Niles earlier this summer before sides in Germany made their presence known too.

North London rivals Tottenham were also linked a shock swoop for the Arsenal academy graduate - but there was never a concrete approach from them.
