Arsenal transfer news: Aubameyang holds key to Gunners deals as Isak, Calvert-Lewin and Watkins all scouted

Arsenal’s business in the January transfer window is likely to be defined by who leaves the club this month.

The future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is very uncertain and the striker has not played since being stripped of the captaincy last month.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is a target for Roma, who want to sign him on loan, while left-back Sead Kolasinac is likely to leave too.

Strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in the summer, making now the last chance to cash in on them, but Arsenal are unlikely to sell the pair given their shortage of alternative options up front.

Fellow forward Folarin Balogun, however, will leave on loan to a Championship club.

Arsenal would prefer to do their business in the summer, when they want to sign a striker and central midfielder. Strikers Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jonathan David and Ollie Watkins have all been scouted.

Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has been watched also. Juventus forward Dejan Kulusevski has been offered to Premier League clubs and could act as loan cover, if Aubameyang leaves.
