Arsenal team news: Aaron Ramsdale returns to full training after Chelsea absence

The goalkeeper, who has lost his starting spot, recently welcomed the birth of his first son

Aaron Ramsdale returned to training on Monday morning ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Sevilla on Tuesday night.

The England goalkeeper was absent from Arsenal’s 2-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday after his wife, Georgina, gave birth to their first son on Friday.

Ramsdale, however, took part in training this morning and Arsenal were due to confirm their travelling squad after the session.

The 25-year-old is currently battling with David Raya to be the Gunners’ No1 goalkeeper after losing his spot last month.

Raya was handed his debut at Everton on September 17 and since then Ramsdale has made just one appearance.

That came in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Brentford, with Ramsdale keeping a clean sheet as Arsenal won 1-0.

Raya has had some shaky moments in recent matches and the Arsenal fans sang Ramsdale’s name during the win at Chelsea on Saturday.

“Great, I love him, I will sing as well for him,” said Mikel Arteta. “Every single day we’ve sung a lot for him, [on Friday] because he was a father, the most beautiful thing to do.

“And he’s someone who has this charisma and personality and is very loved around the team.”
