Chelsea manager Graham Potter has admitted concern over Armando Broja's injury in a worrying update on the striker.

The striker had to be stretchered from the field just 19 minutes into the mid-season friendly against Aston Villa, having collided with Ezri Konsa.

Broja was left screaming in pain and clutching his right knee, and the game was stopped for a considerable amount of time as the Albanian was assessed by medical staff and then substituted.

Asked for an update following the game, which Chelsea lost 1-0 in Abu Dhabi, Potter admitted the initial prognosis "doesn't look positive".

"It was an unfortunate action, I think he got caught up with their player and the ground," Potter told Chelsea’s official website.

"It doesn’t look positive at the moment, but it is too early to say. Fingers crossed, but it is an awkward one."

Chelsea are next in Premier League action on December 27 against Bournemouth.
