Antonio Conte not worried about Chelsea star Marcos Alonso suffering burnout

Antonio Conte says he isn't worried that Marcos Alonso could face burnout this season because he is playing too many games.

The 27-year-old is a regular starter for Chelsea in the left wing-back position mostly because of the club's lack of back-up options in the squad.

Chelsea are closing in on recruiting left-back Emerson Palmieri from Roma, who would then provide competition for Alonso on the left flank.

Emerson, 23, has found his game time at the Stadio Olimpico restricted this term due to Aleksandar Kolarov's form.

The Brazilian-born Italy international would be likely to still make appearances off the bench at Stamford Bridge should he complete his move to Chelsea in this transfer window.

And despite Chelsea's reliance on Alonso, Conte insists the Spaniard is "ready" and fit enough to play every game until the end of the season, saying: "I’m not worried.

"Last season we faced this situation in the same way. I’m not worried. He is ready to play and to play every game."
