Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato has had his odds of joining Chelsea before the close of the January transfer window shortened as the Blues weigh up whether to bolster their attacking options this month.

Standard Sport revealed earlier this week that some of Chelsea's playing staff believe a deal to sign the 26-year-old could be done by the end of the week, with the club having met with Pato's agent recently.

Chelsea's interim manager Guus Hiddink appeared to rule out any transfer for the Brazil international last week, but Bet Victor have now given Pato odds of 1/2 from 4/7 to complete a move to Stamford Bridge this month.

Meanwhile, Southampton striker Graziano Pelle - who scored against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October - has odds of 5/2 to sign for the Blues in January.

Shane Long has odds of 5/1 to join the club while Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, Dynamo Kiev's Andriy Yarmolenko and Everton defender John Stones have odds of 8/1 to make the move to west London this month.

Chelsea manager Hiddink is currently preparing for the club's trip to London rivals Arsenal on Sunday with the fitness of in-form striker Diego Costa in doubt.

The Brazilian-born Spain international bruised his tibia in the Blues' thrilling 3-3 draw with Everton on Saturday and was sent to hospital to undergo a scan immediately afterwards.

Despite avoiding any fracture or break in his leg, it remains unclear whether Costa will recover in time for the game at the Emirates Stadium, which could mean Loic Remy starting up front as Radamel Falcao is still sidelined through injury.
