Dallaglio: Wasps will face hostile French fans

14 April 2012

Lawrence Dallaglio has warned his London Wasps players they face a stiff test of their Heineken Cup credentials against Perpignan in France on Saturday.

Wasps were England's only winners in the first round of matches in the competition courtesy of their 19-13 victory over Castres at Adams Park.

Having won in Perpignan two years ago in a match littered with citings and yellow cards, skipper Dallaglio knows it will take substantial improvement to allow Wasps to triumph again.

He said: "We will know a lot more about our chances in the Heineken Cup after the Perpignan game. We need to be substantially better against Perpignan because they are one of the top sides in France and it will be a hostile atmosphere."

Josh Lewsey limped out of the game due to a hamstring problem, casting doubts on his fitness for England's first autumn Test against New Zealand on 5 November.

Saracens got their Challenge Cup campaign off to a winning start as they beat Glasgow 28-23.
