England's cricket team took a break from their Ashes preparations to enjoy a five-a-side football game at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday afternoon.

Alastair Cook's side boast a 2-1 series lead ahead of Thursday's fourth Test at Trent Bridge after last week's eight-wicket victory and chose to let their hair down before their rivalry with Australia is renewed.

Moeen Ali proved that he has a deft touch, while Steven Finn helped himself to a couple of goals too.

The best celebration on show was easily Stuart Broad's, who treated a handful of onlookers to his best impression of former Italian striker Fabrizio Ravanelli.

All the action was overseen by injured bowler James Anderson, who played the role of referee in traditional black attire.

The game finished 5-5, but cricket fans will be hopeful that England avoid another stalemate by the end of the summer and can claim the famous Ashes urn outright.

Fortunately, all of England's players came through the light hearted game unscathed.

Golfer Rory McIlroy was not so lucky earlier this summer when the Irishman took a tumble while playing football with his friends and suffered a serious ankle injury.
