Chelsea drop £3.5m to get rid of Boulahrouz

Chelsea are set to off-load defensive flop Khalid Boulahrouz to Bayern Munich for £3.5million - just half what they paid for him last summer.

Boss Jose Mourinho made no secret of his dislike for the Dutch centre back, giving him just 10 Premiership starts and often choosing midfielder Michael Essien to play in his position during the Blues' defensive crisis.

The German giants are reportedly ready to overlook his horror season in England, with their interest stemming from the form he showed at Hamburg that prompted Chelsea to buy him last year.

The 25-year-old is thought to be keen to leave Stamford Bridge after Alex, granted a work permit after being loaned to PSV, joined the club to push him down the pecking order.
