TV and pop impresario Simon Fuller is to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was announced.

According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Pop Idol creator will join television stars including Oprah Winfrey and Tina Fey to be honoured next year.

Hollywood honour: Simon Fuller will have his own star

Film A-listers Penelope Cruz, Gwyneth Paltrow and Donald Sutherland are all set to receive stars, along with The Muppets.

Thirty names were chosen from hundreds of nominations earlier this week, and the final list was unveiled yesterday.

Fuller launched the Spice Girls, and his company manages David and Victoria Beckham as well as tennis ace Andy Murray.

American Idol, the US version of Pop Idol, has been a ratings winner and Fuller receives 10% of the profits from the programme.

Estimated to be worth £300 million, he is one of the most powerful figures in the entertainment world.
