The daughter of Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff has tried to commit suicide.

Hayley, 14, is believed to have slashed her wrists last night in Los Angeles because of her parents' bitter divorce and ensuing custody battle for her and sister Taylor Ann, 16.

Hasselhoff filed for divorce in January, seeking sole custody of Hayley and her sister, Taylor-Ann, and asked not to be ordered to pay spousal support.

Bach, 42, filed her own suit, also seeking sole custody and asking the visits to their father be supervised.

The split took a nasty turn in March, when Bach accused him of beating her up and screaming foul-mouthed abuse at her in front of the girls, charges he categorically denied.

He accused her of abusing drugs and requested that she enter a rehab programme and submit to random drug testing. She denied ever having a drug problem. Their divorce was finalised in late July.

David Hasselhoff is due to star in Simon Cowell's latest reality TV show, America's Got Talent. He will judge a host of wannabe entertainers alongside British journalist Piers Morgan and singer Brandy as contestants compete for a $1m (£530,000) prize on the forthcoming TV show.

The Knightrider star previously appeared in the West End production of Chicago in 2004, playing sleazy lawyer Billy Flynn.
