Giovanna Fletcher enjoyed a well-deserved family day out with husband Tom and their three children in London after completing a gruelling, 100-kilometre charity trek across the Sahara Desert.

The author, 37, and her McFly singer husband, also 37, were all smiles as they posed against a wintry backdrop at the Odeon Luxe in London’s Leicester Square on Sunday. This was for a special screening with Penguin Random House to mark The Snowman’s 40th anniversary.

Also shown was 2002 sequel The Snowman and the Snow Dog, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

The Fletchers and their children Buzz, eight, Buddy, six, and four-year-old Max, joined other celebrities and their families for some festive fun in the capital. These included rapper Tynchy Stryder, TV presenter Naomi Isted and actress Gemma Whelan.

Howard Blake, who composed the original soundtrack to The Snowman, was also present.

He appeared alongside musician Esther Abrami, who performed a live violin performance of Walking In The Air. A tribute to author Raymond Briggs was then shown on screen.

Briggs wrote the book The Snowman on which the animated classic is based. He died in August aged 88.

Fletcher’s appearance at the screening came after she completed a five-day trek to raise funds for breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel!.

Vicky Pattison, Kelsey Parker and Pete Wicks also took part in the epic challenge.

The group set off on November 12 and trekked for more than 10 hours each day through Morocco’s unforgiving landscape in an attempt to reach 100km.

Fletcher took to Instagram to celebrate the successful completion of the trek.

She wrote: “The best week. Me little toes still aren’t talking to me and I have a feeling my knees will be having a few words to say about the challenge too… but my heart!! Well, that’s very happy!!”
