Christina Ricci looked captivating as she led the cast of the Addams Family prequel Wednesday at the series premiere in Los Angeles.

The actress, who famously portrayed the title character in the hit 1990s films, returns to the franchise in the role of Marilyn Thornhill. She is joined by a whole new cast portraying the gothic family, with all the members attending the premiere.

Ricci, 42, dressed aptly for the occasion by wearing the signature colour of the family. She donned a black tulle gown with sequins and matching dark lipstick with a smoky eye.

The star certainly stood out, as her dress was emblazoned with crystal embellishments, forming a sparkling spider web.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia Addams in the Netflix series following Carolyn Jones, looked ever the glamorous star as she wore a plunging, white fishtail gown.

The Wales-born actress, 53, beamed for the cameras alongside Ricci and fellow co-stars outside the Hollywood Legion Theatre, where the event was held.

Wednesday follows Wednesday Addams during her turbulent years at high school Nevermore Academy as she discovers psychic abilities.

The series was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (co-creators of Smallville), and the pilot episode was directed by executive producer Tim Burton.

Jenna Ortega, who portrays Wednesday Addams, seemed to be in character at the premiere as she wore a deadpan expression. This was equivalent to the one made famous by the iconic teenage character.

The Scream star, 20, wore a long, black slip dress with lace panels and a side slit at the skirt. She accessorised her look with a black veil, matching the premiere’s gothic theme.

Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, who plays Principal Larissa Weems, stood out in a showstopping red gown. This had a giant bow at the back that extended into a train.

The Addams Family series also stars Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Galpin), Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Naomi J Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka), among other new names to the franchise.

Wednesday debuts on Netflix on Wednesday, November 23.
