Harry Shearer suits up for The Last Two Polar Bears

Two blokes in polar bear suits really got my attention, and started me thinking about global warming as they searched for the last piece of ice in the world.

Harry Shearer, who among other things provides countless voices for The Simpsons, and Rip Torn are the furry stars of Bob & Harry, The Last Two Polar Bears.

The films, by Oli Barry and Sophie Keller Elliott, are part of a package of 60 short pictures made for SOS, the campaign people behind the series of Live Earth concerts on July 7.

I wrote about some of these when they were shown at the Tribeca Film Festival, but now there are about 40 more, from directors such as Kevin McDonald and Rob Reiner.

All the films will be shown around the July 7 concerts, and later in the year the Tricycle Cinema in North London plans to show as many as possible.

According to statistics, the worldwide polar bear population is around 20,000 and is declining at the rate of 22 per cent a year.
