ITV unveils Big Brother diary room chair for upcoming series

ITV has revealed a first-look image of the new diary room chair for the upcoming series of Big Brother.

The chair, which will be sat on by Big Brother contestants as they confess their feelings in the diary room, is one of the format’s most recognisable features.

This year’s chair, made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, is red, orange and yellow and shaped to mimic the Big Brother eye.

Atop the bottom half of the chair are curved neon lights that create the upper part of the eye.

The social experiment programme, which sees housemates live together in a custom-built home for weeks without access to the outside world in a bid to win a cash prize, started in 2000 on Channel 4 before Channel 5 took over in 2011.

The new series is airing on ITV and it will begin on Sunday hosted by TV presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best.

Big Brother will be followed each night by Big Brother: Late And Live – a new show hosted by Odudu and Best from the site of the Big Brother house in front of a live studio audience.

People who have been evicted from the house will have their first live interview on the show, which will also feature celebrity commentary and debate.

Big Brother: The Launch will air on Sunday at 9pm on ITV1, STV, ITV2 and ITVX and the remainder of the series will be available nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, apart from Saturdays.
