Celebrity Big Brother viewers have hit out at Channel 5 for ‘insensitively’ showing a clip of Angie Bowie being told about her ex-husband’s death.

As the contestant’s reaction was used as a teaser for Tuesday night’s episodes, fans took to Twitter to complain about the ‘lack of respect’ being shown.

Many viewers claimed that the death of icon David Bowie was being used by producers to increase viewing figures as the show featured a brand new ‘preview’ feature to include a teaser of Angie’s reaction.

“First time Channel 5 have ever shown a "tomorrow on Big Brother" and its a clip of Angie grieving over David Bowie death. Disgraceful #cbb,” wrote one viewer.

Hours after the world found out about the death of icon David Bowie, Channel producers informed his former wife in the diary room.

“I haven't seen him in so many years I can't make a big drama about it,” she said. “But I feel an era has ended.”

She added: “I’m so very sad. Stardust has gone.”

In response, a statement from Channel 5 reads: "Angie Bowie was told off-camera about the tragic death of David Bowie by her agent.

"She then took the decision to remain in the house of her own accord. Tonight’s preview of the upcoming programme included footage of Angie in the diary room after she had heard the news about her ex-husband.”
