Angie Bowie has branded Celebrity Big Brother bosses “intrusive” for the way they treated her following the news that her ex-husband David Bowie had died.

Angie was a contestant on the Channel 5 reality show when the news broke and was told off camera before taking comfort from her fellow housemates in the Diary Room.

Recalling the moment to Australia’s Studio 10 she said: “Firstly, I didn’t know he was ill, so it was already incredibly difficult.

"Second, that interview in the Diary Room was directly after I was told, and I don’t appreciate being held up as I was and being forced to share my grief with their camera. I found it rude, intrusive, and in extremely poor taste.”

Big Brother- Tiffany thinks David Gest is dead

Host Jessica Rowe commented: "It sounds like you’re still very upset by the way the producers treated you.”

Defending the show’s producers, Bowie replied: “No, not the producers — that’s the format of their show. Once they were told by Channel 5 that they needed to go ahead and tell me, they just went ahead and did it in their normal way.

“I’m not saying that they didn’t have the contractual right to do that: I signed a paper that said they could do that, but it didn’t say ‘and in case someone dies really close to you, we’re gonna stick a camera in your face and you’re gonna cry on screen and tell us all about it’.”

Angie – who left the house early due to ill health – found herself at the centre of an explosive row following the news of David’s death.

Tiffany Pollard mistakenly took “David’s dead” to mean fellow house mate David Gest had died and rallied the house mates to check that Gest was still alive.

Pollard then accused Angie of playing a "f*****g sick" joke after she found the American producer alive and well.
