TV presenters Ant and Dec today purloined the Daybreak sofa to sell off in aid of Comic Relief.

They persuaded the hosts of the ITV breakfast show Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles to give up their shoes but then Ant asked: "I'm thinking of something slightly bigger. How about your sofa?"

Bleakley responded: "Are we allowed to give the sofa away? Let's just say yes!"

But Chiles pointed out that necessity would mean a little delay.

"You can't have it now because we can't sit on the floor, but if you send the boys around after Friday, you can have the sofa," he said.

Ant and Dec also visited Lorraine Kelly's dressing room and the presenter handed over two sets of tartan underwear.

"I gave them one set each, which I thought was only fair," she said.

Over on the BBC, the duo persuaded Breakfast presenters Sian Williams and Bill Turnbull to donate a cup, an umbrella and a clock before walking off with their sofa, too.
