Greggs is launching its first Christmas advent calendar for £24

Gone are the days when advent calendars were restricted to only containing morsels of chocolate behind their doors. From boozy countdowns to makeup-filled versions, the choice of alternative options this year is endless.

Now Greggs, the home of Britain’s favourite sausage roll, is releasing its first-ever advent calendar in the run up to the official Christmas countdown.

The pastry giant’s 'Merry Greggsmas' calendar features Greggs-themed Christmas pictures across its windows, such as a shepherds paying homage to a sausage roll in a manger.

While there are no edible treats hidden behind the doors, pastry lovers can countdown with tear-off tokens for different Greggs treats each day– including a Festive Bake, mince pies and the ever-popular Sausage Roll.

Behind the 24th window is either a £5 gift card or a surprise £25 gift card for lucky customers.

Described as ‘the ultimate Christmas gift for every Greggs fan’, it will be available in limited quantities from Monday, November 20 – so you’ll need to be quick if you want to get your hands on one.

Speaking of the countdown, Greggs said: “Novelty advent calendars have been around for years, so we thought it was time to take the concept up a notch.

“Fans won’t be disappointed by what’s behind the doors - there’s a delicious Greggs gift to enjoy every day of the December advent season, from sausage rolls to Christmas sandwiches and of course our infamous Festive Bake. It’s the perfect Christmas gift for every Greggs fan.”

The calendar is priced at £24, with a worth of up to £60.

Each of the vouchers are redeemable on any day in December up until the 24th, while gift cards are valid for a whole year.
