Australian TV reporter is bitten by bull ant during broadcast

An Australian TV presenter struggled to continue her broadcast when she was bitten by a bull ant live on air.

Alex Bernhardt was filming outside when she was forced to stop mid-sentence after falling victim to an ant bite.

She at first tries to continue her broadcast for Australia's Channel 9, but cannot keep going in the face of the excruiating pain.

Addressing the camera, she says: "I've just been stung by a f****** bull ant.

"Ohhh… F***. Oh my god. Ow. I'm about to cry it's really, really sore."

Bull ants are large insects that can grow up to 40mm in length, and have a potent venom-loaded sting.

They can become extremely aggressive, particularly when defending their rests.

It is not the first time has been injured in the line of duty.

She allegedly had a cigratte stubbed out on her face during a confrontation with a woman outside court.
