Child, 10, found dead inside landing gear of plane at Paris airport

The body of a child has been found in the undercarriage of a plane at a Paris airport.

The youngster, believed to be aged 10, was discovered in the landing gear of the aircraft at Charles de Gaulle on Tuesday.

Air France said the plane had travelled from the city of Abidjan on the Ivory Coast in West Africa yesterday.

Boeing 777 landed in Paris shortly after 5pm.

Air France has confirmed the tragedy in a statement released today.

The airline said: "Air France confirms that the lifeless body of a stowaway was discovered in the well of the landing gear of the aircraft performing flight AF703 connecting Abidjan (ABJ) to Paris-Charles de Gaulle on January 7, 2020."

An investigation into the death is ongoing.

Air France tweeted: "The company offers its condolences and laments this human tragedy."

The journey between Abidjan and Paris takes between six and ten hours on a direct flight.

The city is one hour ahead of Paris in France.

He was a stowaway who fell from a plane arriving at Heathrow airport from Kenya.

He landed inches away from a man who had been sunbathing outside during the day in July.

Investigators are yet to identify him.

He was found with only a rucksack, a pair of trainers, two drinks bottles and a few other small items.
