Stars line up for Jackson tribute

12 April 2012

Singing stars such as Mary J Blige, Natalie Cole and Sister Sledge are to headline a tribute concert for Michael Jackson.

His brother Jermaine Jackson said up to 25 performers are expected to perform outside a 17th-century palace in Vienna, the Austrian capital, on September 26.

Shamed US pop star Chris Brown is also in the line-up. He was given community service after admitting beating up former girlfriend Rihanna in February.

More names will be unveiled at news conferences later this week in London and Berlin, Jermaine said.

Akon, Angela Bassett and Germany-based boy band US5 are also among the 13 artists confirmed so far, Jackson and event promoter Georg Kindel said.

Jackson's original band and dancers will also perform. All the artists will perform tracks from his greatest hits, including Thriller, Billie Jean and Black or White.

Organisers are billing the event as the main global tribute to Jackson, who died on June 25 in Los Angeles.

Jackson's family and children will be in Vienna and 65,000 fans are expected to attend, Kindel said.
