A man attacked a dog with a machete and a pole after it bit him.

Michael Porter cut the animal – a Shar Pei called Sam – with the large knife and whacked it with a pole while he was looking after it for two weeks.

The 52-year-old, from Fuller Road, Dagenham, was found guilty of four animal cruelty offences at Romford magistrates’ court on Wednesday.

He will be sentenced over the attack in September, failing to feed the dog properly and failing to take another dog to the vet at the end of the month.
