With Kim Kardashian back home in LA, Kanye West decided last night’s Givenchy show in Paris was the perfect opportunity to to spend some quality with his mother in law Kris Jenner.

Turning up to the presentation some forty minutes late, the unlikely double act sat front row alongside Bradley Cooper and Dutch supermodel Lara Stone as Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci unveiled his latest collection.

The spectacle, which saw models clad in python skin shirt dresses and deco print skater skirts march through a maze crafted from plywood, was far from your average Mothering Sunday activity. But Jenner, who shares an affection for Tisci’s work with her daughter Kim, seemed thrilled at the prospect and posed for pictures with her son-in-law before the show got underway.

There was much for her to delight in on the catwalk too with a Givenchy collection in which Tisci offered up clothes for a woman who demands to stand out from the crowd.

Citing Egypt as the “beginning of everything, even pasta”, Italian Tisci said he had been obsessed with deco prints when creating the collection and accordingly, unveiled Tutankamon motifs and oversized brass trims.

Harking back to the idea of the Egypt as the origin of supreme luxury, the designer also showcased blouson sleeve dresses with structured collars and bomber jackets trimmed with shimmering gold trims.

Tisci, who has dressed more than a few rock stars in his time, said he had been listening to a lot of psychedelic music whilst creating this collection. That manifested through garish Seventies prints showcased alongside leopard print overcoats and leather overcoats inset with vibrant shades.

The result was loud, intentionally so, but it wasn’t without its muted inclusions.

As Tisci understands well, it is his ability to deliver clothes which are typical of the Givenchy aesthetic that keeps his customers returning for more. Accordingly, there were plenty of those in this collection with military overcoats trimmed with red braiding among the high points. A neat bomber jacket also looked set to delight fans.

Keen to go after the customers for whom money is no object - see Kim Kardashian - the Italian also took the opportunity to experiment with skins with python overcoats and butter soft leather shorts a recurring theme.

It was also heavy on fur with clipped mink and rabbit repurposed with a leopard print motif.

Tisci’s Givenchy may no longer the boiling hot brand it once was but it continues to delight its die hard following who are won over by its ability to deliver sex appeal with a decidedly dark edge.
