Brad Pitt has been starring in box office hits since the early ‘90s, earning himself a series of nominations and awards for his work in films like Legends of the Fall, 12 Years a Slave, and most recently, his Golden Globes-nominated role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

But it isn't just Pitt’s films that have garnered headlines over the past three decades.

In a new interview with The New York Times, Pitt, 55, has talked about the romance rumors which have surrounded him since his divorce from Angelina Jolie in 2016.

“I don’t know how many women they’ve said I’ve been dating the last two or three years, and none of it’s true,” Pitt said, appearing to address current speculation about his friendship with actress Alia Shawkat, best known for playing Maeby Funke in the cult show Arrested Development.

Pitt and Shawkat have been seen on a couple of outings together, with Pitt previously attending one of Shawkat's art shows to support her.

Pitt added that he doesn't read any press about himself. “I stopped reading all press about 2004. Not just reviews. I mean any magazine in the doctor’s office,” he said. “Because some of it would bounce around like a rat in the skull. It would stay there, and it would inform some of my decisions and choices in work, in life, and I didn’t find any of it helpful.”

The 55-year-old actor also shared how his views about the attention his success has brought him have changed.

“I’ve had moments where I’ve seen pictures of myself from years ago and gone, 'That kid looks all right.' But I didn’t feel that way inside,” he said, “I spent most of the ’90s hiding out and smoking pot. I was too uncomfortable with all the attention. Then I got to a place where I was aware that I was imprisoning myself. Now I go out and live life, and generally people are pretty cool.”
