Country music’s biggest and brightest stars stepped out on Sunday evening for the annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The night saw singer Kacey Musgraves scoop up an award, actress Nicole Kidman cheer on her other half Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert deliver a subtle on-stage dig at her ex-husband Blake Shelton.

There were some strong looks on display too, as Kelly Clarkson, Khalid, The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph hit the white carpet at one of the country music industry’s biggest nights.

The ACM awards red carpet was dominated by Nicole Kidman, who showed up with her husband and ACM winner Keith Urban. Urban, who won Entertainer of the Year, shared a passionate kiss with his wife after his name was called and the pair was later photographed giggling backstage on Instagram.

Carrie Underwood also arrived in top style, wearing a sparkling black dress with unusual skirt draping. The 'Jesus Take the Wheel' singer also posted a photo to Instagram prior to her performance at the show, in which the mother of two revealed she was “#multitasking” by prepping for the event while breast pumping.

Colour abounded on the red carpet, particularly from Kacey Musgraves. Musgraves, who is known for her whimsical style, delivered with a pastel pleated suit.

Singer Miranda Lambert, whose neon green dress could not be missed, performed at the awards, sparking controversy for changing the lyrics to her song 'Little Red Wagon' in what appeared to be a subtle dig at her ex-husband Blake Shelton, who was there on the night.

Lauren Alaina was the epitome of southern belle chic, wearing a tiered white sequin gown with a classic black bow detail.

The night was also a big one for The Bachelor fans, as Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph made their first public appearance on the white carpet. Dressed in co-ordinating black outfits, Randolph’s asymmetrical dress was a fun and sophisticated choice alongside Underwood’s understated black suit.

It wasn’t just the ladies who were dressed to the nines on the night, as pop-country singer Khalid won major style points for his bright yellow turtleneck and black bomber combo.

While the menswear game on the ACM’s carpet was decidedly less colourful than the female turnout, Jimmy Allen’s loud red suit with its leopard-print lapels and panels was one of the more adventurous choices of the evening.

Singer Thomas Rhett not only won male artist of the year but also our pick for best dressed man with an all black look. The details were what took Rhett’s outfit to the next level, with a subtle diamond print and crisp black bow-tie.
