Plasticine pair go crackers

Pssst...

The Plasticine pair are to become the new faces of Jacob's Cream Crackers ... in return for an unlimited supply.

The Oscar-winning duo feature in a new TV ad with an invention which neatly lays the topping on crackers.

They will also feature on millions of packs as part of the promotion.
Wallace and Gromit ate crackers on the Moon in their first film, A Grand Day Out.

Wallace said: "Most people think we only have cheese on our crackers. But for sometime now we have been experimenting with other toppings.

"Gromit and I have built a new machine that does it automatically, and all from the comfort of our front room."

The pair are to begin filming their latest movie, The Curse Of The Wererabbit, in just a few days after two years of preparation.

They said they decided to do the ad to keep them in free crackers throughout filming.

"We are just about to go into 18 months of filming, so Gromit wanted to make sure that we have all our creature comforts close to hand," said Wallace.

The characters' creator Nick Park said: "I'm delighted that Wallace has teamed up with Jacobs Cream Crackers. There are 18 months of intense filming ahead and if Wallace and Gromit have their crackers it means they are happy, and that's one less worry for me."

A spokesman for Jacobs said: "As you would expect for a prestigious campaign such as this, we screen tested many actors and actresses, but the camera doesn't lie.

"Wallace and Gromit's screen test was brilliant and when Wallace showed us his plan for his new invention that adds the toppings, we knew he was the future face of our Cream Crackers."

The new Wallace and Gromit film will will feature the voices of top actors Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes.

They will play new characters Lady Tottington and Lord Victor Quartermaine, while Peter Sallis will again star as Wallace.

It will be released worldwide by DreamWorks Pictures in September 2005.
