I chewed a live frog hidden in my Nando's chicken wrap

12 April 2012

Ross Dance took a bite of his Nando's chicken wrap and sensed something was wrong. Unable to chew through it, he asked his fellow diners to excuse him as he got it out of his mouth at the restaurant in Victoria.

To his horror he found the foreign object was a four-inch live frog and he was biting its leg. He spat it out but thinks he swallowed the limb.
Accounts manager Mr Dance, 32, said: "There was a whole frog there. It was still alive. I felt ill. The thought of chewing on it keeps me awake at night."

Staff recorded his ordeal on a complaint form and gave him a £44 refund. Mr Dance, from Crawley, was with his girlfriend Karen. He insisted on taking the evidence home in a plastic tub.
Nando's said it was taking the scare extremely seriously and added: "We take great care over our food." It said the only way the frog could have got into the wrap was in its salad leaves, which are provided by a supplier.

A spokesman added: "As Mr Dance refuses to give us the foreign object, we are unable to fully understand where it came from."
