Why does the Evening Standard want to hear my views?

A message from the Evening Standard

“London is a major city on the World stage and as London’s Quality Newspaper we want to ensure our readers have the opportunity to take part in the debate, indeed raise their voice, on the future of our city. Our readers are extremely important to us and by understanding more about your London lives – whether this be living or working or going out in London, we can create a paper that reflects your views.”

What will being a London Voice member involve?

Voice members will have the opportunity to give their views by completing regular online questionnaires. These will be sent to you by email and you can expect to receive an invite to take part about once every 4 to 6 weeks. We will certainly never contact you more than once every fortnight. You do not have to take part in every questionnaire though it would be great if you are able to complete most of them. The questionnaires will cover a range of different topics – from you and your lifestyle, your views on the paper, your views on London, indeed your views on Britain and the world today. The time it takes to complete the questionnaires will vary from 3 minutes to 20 minutes but we will always tell you how long it will take in the email invite we send you.

There are lots of other things you can get involved in if you wish. This is my Voice is a forum (discussion) area where you can discuss your views direct with other Voice members or simply leave a comment. Perhaps you want to raise your voice on the day’s headlines or leave further comments on an area covered in a questionnaire you have just completed – anything, it’s your forum, you decide.

There is also an area of the site called For the Record. You can visit this area to view results of questionnaires you have taken part.

Very occasionally there may be an opportunity to take part in some specific research on a particular topic. We’ll invite a small number of Voice members to discuss their views. It might be online or we will invite you to a location near to where you live or work.

What do I get in return for taking part?

We know that living and working in London can be hectic and we value your time as much as you do. We therefore want to make sure that you are all thanked for your contribution to London Voice. We will always feedback any results from questionnaires or discussions that we think might be of interest to you or news about things coming up on the Voice.

During the course of the year we will be offering prizes worth more than £30,000. Prizes for each survey will be announced when we invite you to complete the survey by e-mail and could consist of cash, high street vouchers and other prizes. Panelists who complete a minimum of 4 of our 6 larger polls during the course of the year will also be entered into a draw to win £5,000 in cash at the start of December. Not a bad stocking filler if we do say so ourselves.

So that sums up what being a Voice member is all about. If you have any more questions, you can visit the help area of the site where we have tried to answer as many of your potential questions as possible, alternatively click on contact us to send the London Voice team an email.
