TV presenter Paul O’Grady passed away from a sudden cardiac arrhythmia at the age of 67 earlier this year, in March.

However, before his unexpected death, he had filmed one last project: a two-part docuseries all about elephants. This means his fans will get to see him in a new series on screen one last time.

But, when was Great Elephant Adventure filmed, what it is about, when will it be released, and where can you watch it?

When was Great Elephant Adventure filmed?

While the exact time of the filming hasn’t been publicly revealed, we do know that the docuseries was shot sometime last year.

Talking about it in their autumn preview, ITV said: “Filmed late last year before his sudden and unexpected death, this was Paul’s final project and one that he was incredibly passionate about.”

What is Great Elephant Adventure about?

Great Elephant Adventure will be a docuseries all about the challenges faced by the elephants in Thailand and Laos, two countries known for their dedication to rescuing, rehabilitating, and safeguarding elephants.

It will also highlight the incredible work that the nations’ elephant rescue centres are doing, as well as the beautiful markets, spiritual temples, healing apothecaries and flavourful eateries they are home to.

ITV has revealed: “Each episode highlights a particular challenge faced by elephants in the region and - as ever - Paul’s love for animals shines throughout the series.

“The tone is warm, playful and heartfelt and always characterised by his much-loved wit and humour.”

When and where to watch Great Elephant Adventure

A start date for the series is yet to be released.

However, we do know that Great Elephant Adventure will consist of two episodes and air on ITV1 and ITVX this autumn.
