Loose Women reunited famous Neighbours couple Madge and Harold as part of their special soap week trip to Ramsay Street.

Acting legends Anne Charleston and Ian Smith sat side-by-side as they joined the ITV show via live link to discuss the Australian soap – which broadcasts daily on Channel 5 – and that iconic scene 27 years ago.

In that fateful scene, Harold – played by Smith – was washed away, disappearing off a cliff but he later returned with his character suffering from amnesia and believing his name was Ted.

Of the iconic clip, Smith let fans into a secret as he revealed the cliff was actually a rock, or more like a “mill pond”.

He said: “It was meant to be terrible rough and a wave was meant to wash me off the rock, but it was like a mill pond.

“All the crew were picking up rocks and throwing them in the sea to make it look rough.”

Madge died in 2001 from pancreatic cancer but did reappear during the 30th anniversary in 2015 – as a ghost.

Speaking of the scene, she said: “We don’t know if she was a ghost or a figment of his imagination. We couldn’t quite decide.

“It would be hard for to go back again because they buried me!”

But reuniting after all these years, the stars confessed that it was “lovely” being back on set.

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV. Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
