Guns N’ Roses lead singer Axl Rose has apologised to fans and promised that the band would reschedule a gig after it was cancelled due to illness.

The iconic rock band left fans fuming after their promised night playing Glasgow was cancelled on Tuesday 5 July at short notice.

Guns N’ Roses are currently on a tour of the UK, Ireland and Europe, and played London on July 1 and 2 – and have confirmed that Friday’s gig in Munich will continue as planned.

“We are working on rescheduling options for this show so please hold onto your tickets and wait for a further update,” the band wrote at the time.

“We appreciate your understanding and patience.”

Now, Axl Rose has waded into the fray, posting on Twitter that the band apologised for “the inconvenience of postponing Glasgow.”

“I’d like to thank everyone 4 their well wishes,” he tweeted. “It’s greatly appreciated!”

“I’ve been following Dr’s orders, getting rest w/a vocal coach n’ sorting our r sound issues. Seems good so far. Thanks again 4 everyone’s concern!”

“At the end of the day it’s about giving u the fans the best of r selves n’ the best time we can give u n’ that’s all I, the band n’ crew r focused on. See u in Munich!!”

After Munich, the band will play Milan on Sunday July 10, followed by Vienna on July 13 and then concluding the European leg of their tour in Hanover on July 15.

In November, they will be heading to Australia and New Zealand to continue the next leg.

Guns N’ Roses are one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Formed in 1985 in California, the original members were Hollywood Rose singer Axl Rose and L.A. Guns (a glam rock band) members Izzy Stradlin and Tracii Guns, as well as drummer Rob Gardner and bassist Ole Beich. When Guns, Gardner and Beich left, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Slash joined.

In a 2019 interview, Guns recalled: "Axl got into an argument with our manager and our manager fired Axl but we all lived together so it was all really weird. So, that same night he got fired we started Guns N’ Roses and I called Izzy the next day and said ‘Hey, we are gonna start this new band called Guns N’ Roses, do you want in?’ It was as simple as that, no paint or cocaine involved.”

Their debut album was a success, with tracks such as Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle and Sweet Child o’ Mine becoming rock staples.
