DIY gift certificates

Two thirds of Brits admit to passing on gift-voucher presents from friends and family to others as gifts to save money, according to the latest PR-derived survey.

That’s pretty frugal but there is an even cheaper way to gift friends or relatives this Christmas: make your own gift certificates. Not by launching your own fraud scheme, but by making a gift voucher for something they love — maybe a year’s supply of your special vanilla cupcakes, five evenings of babysitting or 10 sessions of IT support for a technophobe in your life. Make a free and professional looking voucher on a site such as www.regiftable.com/dontwanttoregift.

A fifth off Ikea

Some think it hell but most of us have a bit of Ikea in our homes, and if you’re looking to add to the stash and will be spending more than £130, get £20 off by priting off this voucher: tinyurl.com/freeikeavoucher. You’ll need an Ikea family card, but these cost nothing and can be picked up in shops.
