Eurozone private sector activity slowed for the second month in a row in November, financial data firm Markit’s latest snapshot of the region’s services and manufacturing industries warned today.

Germany’s growth powered ahead for the second month in a row but France is at its lowest ebb since June, the survey found. Markit said: “It looks like momentum is being lost again.”

Ex-chief of Logica to take chair at Laird

Electronic components-maker Laird today named former Logica chief executive Martin Read as its chairman.

The company, which supports Virgin Media’s Under-ground wireless network, said Read will join the company at the end of February but will replace Nigel Keen in May. Read has also served on the boards of Invensys, Aegis, BA, Boots and Asda.

UK car production revved up by 17%

Car production rose at its quickest pace so far this year last month, with strong domestic demand. Output of new motors was 160,854 in October, up 17.4% on last October, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said.

Manufacturing for the UK market was up 52.4%, with export growth at 11.4% and demand from Europe rising. To date 1,286,287 cars have been built in 2013, up 5.4%.
